Ademi: Government ready to resolve all Ohrid Framework Agreement issues
Skopje, November 1 (MIA) – The government regards Ohrid Framework Agreement as priority for further development of the country and is fully committed to successfully implement it as soon as possible.
This was said by the Deputy PM for Framework Agreement implementation Abdilakim Ademi at the panel discussion “Seven Years after Framework Agreement – Where is Macedonia today” which takes place as part of multi-ethnic happening “Under the same sun” at the Skopje Fair.
Ademi expressed assurance that the Government is ready to resolve all issues from the Framework Agreement. - We assess the Framework Agreement implementation as a process that builds the system of the state, Ademi said pointing out that several activities for its implementation mainly in normative part have been undertaken.
He said that important part of the agreement is to pass the Law on Use of Languages, which is applied with certain material and technical difficulties.
Ademi said that activities are undertaken for equal representation of minority communities in state institutions. At the moment there are calls for employment of 500 persons of ethnic communities and next year greater efforts will be made in this plan.
Professor Mirjana Malevska from SEE University in Tetovo said that Ohrid Framework Agreement met the initial goals and seven years after its signing the citizens live in peace with political, economic and transitional problems which are resolved in institutions of the system.
The first multiethnic happening “Under the same sun” is part of the campaign for promoting the multiethnic values and an incentive for mutual respect of ethnic communities in Macedonia. Visitors will have the opportunity to be familiarized with the culture and tradition of various communities. There will be a presentation of folk costumes, handcrafts, cuisine specialties and national folk dances from various cities throughout Macedonia.
The event is organized by the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia within the frames of the project “Living in Multiethnic Environment – Citizens with Equal Rights, Opportunities and Protection” financed by the European Commission and FOSIM. The event was opened by H.E. Erwan Fouere, EU Special Representative for Macedonia and Head of the EC delegation.
